About CPIP

The Center for the Protection of Intellectual Property (CPIP) is a nonprofit, independent academic center that advances in scholarship and policy how intellectual property is a fundamental precondition of growing innovation economies and flourishing societies. The evidence in economics, history, ethics, and law demonstrates that reliable and effective property rights are fundamental to the success of both the innovation industries and creative industries. CPIP’s community of scholars engage in rigorous, evidence-based research on how new markets in innovative technologies and creative works are made possible when property rights are secured to inventors, creators, and entrepreneurs. This research is necessary for policymaking by officials and judges so that reliable and effective intellectual property rights continue to spur innovation and creativity, drive economic growth, and promote global prosperity.
